The Yoshi Forum Network

The Yoshi Forum Network

The Yoshi Forum Network was a community for Nintendo fans that started around 2003.

Before the age of social media and Discord, a lot of us spent time hanging out here and on MSN Messenger.

The Beginning

The forum was originally started by NDawg on Invisionfree, a site that hosted free Invision Powerboard forums.

The original URL was: http://s2.invisionfree.com/Yoshi_Forum_Network (later shortened to URLs like yoshiforum.net.tc and yoshiforum.2ya.com)

The community was filled with a lot people that created fan-made Nintendo sites. Some sites were Luigi's Shack, Mariotendo, Crazy 4 Yoshis, Boo Mansion, and more.

A lot of these fan sites shared the Yoshi Forum Network as the place where all of the communities could hang out together.

What We Did

Although the community was joined together by a common interest in Nintendo games, not all of the discussion was video game-related.

There was a General Chat for casual discussion, Yoshi Airport for people to introduce themselves or announce that they were leaving, Spam Land where people could go crazy, the Shy Guy Arcade for people to play forum games, and art sections.

There was even a 2d MMORPG for a short while.

Legacy

The site was eventually moved from the free Invisionfree site to its own domain, yoshiforumnetwork.com, by PinkFloydYoshi.

It also expanded in scope to include more than just a forum.

A YouTube channel and Facebook group were created by Lilgrim1991 later on as well.

With the rising popularity of Social Media and the community growing older, the Yoshi Forum Network eventually started to get less and less visitors.

Activity decreased and the domain name eventually expired.

About the Author

I was one of the first 20 members on the original site. I think I may have been member number 13 or 14.

I used to go by the name "CoolAndrew11" when I was younger, but now my online alias is @ItsAndrewXP

.

I used to run the website Luigi's Shack and was affiliated with the Yoshi Forum Network.

I remember being promoted to being a moderator and then eventually an administrator on the forums.

I was feeling nostalgic about all of the hours spent on the Yoshi Forum Network when I was 11 years old and learning about the internet. When I saw that the domain name was available, I thought I would buy it and create this page in memory of my old favorite forum.

If anyone stumbles upon this and wants to reconnect, feel free to reach out to me on one of my social media accounts.
